This snap ring is used to retain the planetary gear set inside the transfer case.
NOTE: While this part fits many 1998-2013 transfer cases, it does not fit 2007-2013 MP1226 and MP1626 transfer cases of the earlier design that use a 5-gear planetary. Use part number 19132997 if you have a 5-gear planetary in your 2007-2013 LMM/LML transfer case.
