Air conditioning components get used on a daily basis which means they tend to wear faster than other parts of your Duramax. Hoses leak, pulleys squeal, electrical components fail, and the list goes on. Merchant-Automotive is proud to offer these common wear items to ensure your truck gets fixed the right way. Whether you need to replace the AC manifold hose to ensure Freon stays in the system, or just the small clip that retains the line in place, we've got the parts needed to complete any job! Grab a new blower motor fan resistor to replace a fried factory resistor. Restore the accessory drive with one of our high-quality idler pulleys along with the bracket that holds it in place. These pulleys have a bearing that typically starts to squeal before eventually seizing up. Replace yours before it causes further damage to your serpentine belt. Tired of dealing with the air conditioning system altogether? Grab one of our Duramax AC delete kits to remove the AC compressor while keeping the correct belt routing! No matter what Duramax diesel air conditioning component you need, the experts at Merchant-Automotive have the parts you need to ensure a quick install that lasts for years to come!
How Does A Duramax Air Conditioning System Work?
A Duramax diesel's air conditioning system works by converting refrigerant from a liquid to a gaseous form. The refrigerant absorbs heat and humidity from the truck when it changes states, allowing the system to produce cold, dry air. The air conditioning system then uses pressure and temperature management to transform the refrigerant from a liquid to a gaseous state. The main components that allow this process to work are the air conditioning compressor, condenser, dryer, orifice tube, and evaporator, among other things.
What Are The Symptoms Of A Bad A/C Compressor?
There are several signs to look out for if you think the AC compressor has gone out in your Duramax diesel. The first and most obvious is that the temperature inside the cabin is higher than normal, and hot air is blowing from the vents. The next sign is noises coming from the compressor when the air conditioning system is turned on. One of the final signs is that the compressor clutch is not moving. The compressor's clutch allows the pulley to engage and disengage from engine power, allowing the compressor to turn only when necessary.
What Could Cause My Duramax A/C Not To Work?
Along with the signs of a bad air compressor mentioned above, there are many other reasons your Duramax diesel air conditioning system may not be working. A leak in the system would prevent Freon from circulating through the system, and instead out into the atmosphere. Check the air conditioning condenser located at the front of your truck to ensure no foreign debris has caused damage. There could even be an electrical short in the system preventing your blower motor from working. When diagnosing AC problems, be sure to check all fuses as sometimes it's the easiest fix!
