As the Merchant Automotive team worked on our customer’s trucks, we began to notice common problems that made our lives just a little bit more difficult. Being the problem solvers that we are, we began to engineer our own solutions to make our lives a little easier and quickly realized that these solutions could be utilized by not only our in-house team of experts but by those that wrenched on their own trucks, as well as other professionals in the industry. In 2004 Merchant Automotive was born and it continues to grow/thrive to this day.

Water In Fuel Sensor Wrench
The Problem: There are just some things that drive us crazy and the ultra-delicate “water in fuel” sensor on 2001 to 2016 Duramax trucks is high up on that list. Part of properly maintaining a Duramax-equipped truck is regularly changing out the fuel filter. Part of this seemingly basic process is removing a small, delicate sensor known as the “water in fuel sensor” that must be removed in order to service the fuel filter. This small, plastic part can be easily damaged by a traditional set of pliers and that’s exactly the scenario that home mechanics and professional mechanics alike ran into day after day.
The solution: The Merchant Automotive Water In Fuel Sensor Wrench is precisely machined to work with 2001 - 2011 and 2012 - 2016 Duramax water in fuel sensors. We created this wrench from T-6061 Aluminum and designed it super tight tolerances that can remove sensors that have already seen the rigors of wrench wear and tear. Flip it around and you can utilize the other side to securely slot into the bleeder screw exactly to prevent round-off. How cool is that?

Transfer Case Seal Driver Kit
The Problem: Properly indexing and setting the depth on transfer case seals is a challenge for even the most skilled mechanic and making a mistake during this crucial procedure could lead to major issues down the road for your truck.
The Solution: Our transfer case seal driver kit solves this common challenge quickly and easily. Simply place the appropriate driver on whatever seal you’re working on and strike the top of the driver with a rubber hammer to set your seal to the exact depth it needs to be with precision milled positive stops. No muss and no fuss. Our drivers feature a durable anodized black finish with a laser-etched logo and part number to make them easy to identify when sitting in your toolbox.

Torque Converter T Handle Installation Kit
The Problem: Installing a 70-pound torque converter into the bell housing of an Allison transmission can be a real challenge without the proper set of tools. Not only can the torque converter slip out of your hands but you can also risk a nasty cut on the sharp edges of the bell housing itself.
The Solution: We’ve created a durable, sturdy set of handles that easily thread into the 10 x 1.5mm converter bolts and make it incredibly easy to remove or install this heavy, cumbersome part of your transmission. It’s as easy as it sounds, simply screw them on!

Pressure Regulator Service Tool
The Problem: Removing the cap that holds the pressure regulator spring on Allison transmissions can be very difficult due to pressure from the spring itself. This can cause a good bit of struggle and frustration.
The Solution: Our pressure regulator service tool is a simple rig that is designed to pre-load the cap against the spring with an easy-to-turn bolt. We’ve designed it to easily mount to the pump body and with a few turns of the screw, you can easily perform this normally irritating task.
